"There are so many songs that stand side by side with our winner but in the
end "He Swallows Whiskey" came to rest easily on their shoulders. It's
simply a song that goes to the heart and sits there by the fire and the
sorrow. An honest and poetic portrayal of two people who feel the distance
inside and how they try to deal with it day after aching day. This song goes
underneath our daily sensibilities to try and shed some light on our
relationships with other people and, most importantly, the relationship we
have with ourselves. It stands as a testament to the beautiful parade of
songs we were fortunate to be with. Bravo to all the writers who continue to
brighten up our darker places."
